Weekly Status Report, W23/2009

Here's a summary of SeaMonkey/Mozilla-related work I've done in week 23/2009 (June 1 - 7, 2009):

While tabbed mail for SeaMonkey is getting reviewed slowly but surely, the Thunderbird guys are working on a lot of internal reworks and code improvements in their UI code (e.g. included in the easy mail search work), and I strongly believe that we should get those applied to SeaMonkey code as well as those built a good basis for future improvements on the UI as well as make it easier to port Thunderbird work to SeaMonkey and our work back to their product. This is nice stuff to work on for someone who doesn't know our code that well yet, as most is just applying their patches on our side and refining that following review comments. Some work for you to pick up?

problems in the new download manager
1)the progress windows does not close when the file is opened (and not only saved), not as in the previous download manager (in which the window remained open only if the file was saved and not opened).
2)the list of helper applications in "choose helper application" dialog, is higher than the window (and it's bottom is hidden because it's below the window bottom).

david, please file bugs in Bugzilla for such issues, there they will be tracked and can be looked at by the right people (e.g. the venkman team needs to look into the venkman crash, the Mozilla platform guys need to look into the file handling dialog issue).

Fishcam
About the Fishcam:

Lou Montulli, the original fishcam creator at Netscape, relaunched the Fishcam earlier this
year. It's now hosted at Zetta, Inc.

The SeaMonkey "Ctrl-Alt-F" fishcam still points to "http://wp.netscape.com/fishcam/fishcam.html" which redirects to http://netscape.aol.com/ where there's nothing.

The shortcut should be changed to http://www.fishcam.com/.

Nomax: It has been changed to exactly that URL some time ago in SeaMonkey 2 nightlies, I'm not sure what you are talking about.

Ah, yes, we don't touch 1.8 code any more where it doesn't concern security or serious stability issues.
