Weekly Status Report, W36/2009

Here's a summary of SeaMonkey/Mozilla-related work I've done in week 36/2009 (August 31 - September 6, 2009):

Tabbed mail landed in time for SeaMonkey 2.0 Beta 2, so we have all the features in that we wanted to have in the 2.0 series! Thanks to everyone who has worked on getting us here, I hope we now can take this remaining month to polish up this version enough that it's ready for shipping as an official 2.0 release.

Also, thanks to jenzed from Mozilla Messaging for putting up SMILE documentation on MDC so SeaMonkey add-on developers can find resources about those APIs!

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4pre) Gecko/20090910 SeaMonkey/2.0pre - Build ID: 20090910001424

W37 novelty? Cookies and RSS feeds
Don't know exactly how new this is, but I think it is fairly new (maybe W37). I suddenly notice that cookies are sent when fetching RSS feed items from "News & Blogs" in the mailer (so that, for instance, MediaWiki diffs opened in a mailer Message window from the site's RSS feed now appear in my favourite "CologneBlue" MediaWiki skin and not in the default "Monobook" skin when I'm already logged in to the corresponding site.)

For my use case, the above is a plus. Maybe some people would have the opposite opinion. Don't know if governed by a preference.

Certificates and icons
I see the "Larry icon" in "View Page Info => Security", green on https://addons.mozilla.org , blue on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org (and at least one non-mozilla https page), grey on http (without s) pages, in the Modern theme (didn't look at Default) but not in EarlyBlue (didn't look at LCARSTrek). Don't forget to add those icons when you pop the maxVersion to 2.0 (currently 2.0b1) (and I know you're busy -- no rush ;-) ).

What I do see even in EarlyBlue is a "green Larry" on the URL bar for AMO, together with "Mozilla Corporation" on green background next to the (green locked) statusline padlock.

I only release new versions for my own themes for alpha/beta/final releases of SeaMonkey, and I always only work on them with some delay.
Right now, the icons are in the git repository, I just need to create and upload 2.0b2 packages which contain that and other changes between b1 and b2.

nightlies link
In the readme.txt file included in SeaMonkey releases it still incorrectly states that:

--------
You can download nightly builds of SeaMonkey from the mozilla.org FTP site
at

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/

For the very latest builds, see

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/latest-trunk/
--------

This is not valid anymore and should be fixed, according to the following:
